All Wales People First Manifesto For the National Assembly

for Wales election 2011

As the only national organisation that solely represents men and women with learning disabilities, our values are embedded in the Human Rights Act, the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities and the Social Model of Disability.  The vision for the future is to:

Make sure people with learning disabilities have a voice in spite of the difficult economic future

Make sure the voices get stronger, that people with learning disabilities develop leadership skills and become partners in change

Make sure the voices are heard by decision makers and people in power

Make sure that communities become stronger, that people with learning disabilities are part of their communities, helping to find solutions to shared problems

‘Wales should be proud that it led the way supporting people with learning disabilities. We want to work with you to make sure that we keep moving forward and never go back.’
